Floatation therapy, also known as floating, and R.E.S.T (Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy). A float tank is a tub of water 10 inches deep saturated with approx 1,200 lbs of Epsom salt.  Floating is an effortless process and reduces almost all external stimuli. Relax your senses in complete darkness in our soundproof rooms, you always have complete control over your environment with adjustable lights and music.  The water temperature is set at 93.5 degrees Fahrenheit equal to the approximate temperature of the skin losing sense of where your body ends, and where the water begins.

The inside of our float tanks is an environment unlike any other found on Earth. In its purest form, it is devoid of light, sound, temperature, and the perception of gravity. The beneficial effects resulting from our reduced environmental sensory input tanks include deep relaxation, with physical and mental benefits that continue well beyond the floatation experience. Studies on floatation have been overwhelmingly positive, and more benefits are still being uncovered through modern research. Floating bridges spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical wellness, making everyone ideal candidates to relax your body and heal your mind.

Before Your Float…

You don’t need to bring anything with you, we will provide everything. When you arrive, we will give you a tour of your private float suite and an overview of these basics. There is a dry changing area to disrobe (you float in the nude) and store your belongings, next you will insert your waterproof earplugs and cover any cuts or scrapes with petroleum jelly (all provided to you). Then you will shower before you enter the float tank with shampoo and body wash to remove any oils and dirt from the skin. Once you’ve showered open up the door to the float room or lift up the Orb lib and step inside. Ease yourself down into the water and relax.

The Float…

Once you are in the float tank/pod, music and lights will be on to help ease you in while you get acquainted with the unique float environment. After a few minutes the music will fade away and you’ll be free to relax completely free of distraction. Feel free to move around to aquatint yourself with your new environment, stretching and yoga poses is a wonderful way to start your float. Floating creates a unique experience that brings sensory input into your brain to a minimum which will allow your brain to quickly start producing theta waves, the frequency of deep relaxation. People have reported discovering clarity on big decisions, writing full novels, and deep spiritual experiences. Your body will be suspended in a zero-gravity environment, freeing you from any tension and allowing your muscles to completely let go. Every float is different and your body will know what it needs out of each float weather that’s mentally, emotionally, physically, or spiritually.

Post Float Glow…

Music will fade in during the final minutes of your float to gently ease you out of your zone and then the lights will come on signaling that your float has been to an end and it is time to exit the tank. Once you have exited the tank it is time to shower, this time with body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. We ask you to be conscious of time getting out of your float suite to allow us to prepare the perfect environment for the person after you. The Float Forty~One experience is more than the 60-90 minutes spent in the tank, we encourage you to enjoy a cup of tea or glass Kombucha and relax in our calming center for as long as you’d like. Taking a few moments to sit and reflect on your recent float journey can be even more powerful than the float itself. We have a private meditation room available to our Float Forty-One members and veterans. If you would like to apply make up or dry your hair we also have a vanity room available equipped with all of the essentials.
